Shiny New Things: Scent of A Woman

In the past couple of months, I have acquired so much stuff (which probably means it’s also time for a wardrobe cull, too), but my latest spoils of sale wars are very small in comparison to my previous shopping posts.

While adding to my wardrobe a plethora of tops from one of my favourite stores (that is sadly now closed due to a major overhaul of the local shopping centre), I have been adding to my perfume collection as well. Last year, I had to cull some of my perfumes, where the smell had gone stale/off and had just been working my way through the ones I had left.

As mentioned in my Xmas post, I received and bought some new perfumes but haven’t documented the even newer additions.

I picked up a bottle of Avril Lavigne’s Rock Star for a crazy good price, smells a bit boring but decent enough. The bottle was what won me over. Me and aesthetics, I tell ya…

One of my other favourite stores is about to close soon and I picked up two perfume giftsets for insanely stupid prices as well.

Covet by Sarah Jessica Parker.

100 ml EDP with body lotion and shower gel= $27.50

I always liked the Lovely and SATC2 perfumes and this was no different. Definitely a more mature scent and it settles into a more distinguished fragrance once on the skin for a little while.

Don’t like the bottle so much but the lotion and gel tubes are way cute. The tubes have a twist top so the lotion comes out of the lid so you can wipe off what you need and then twist to close back.

Fairy Dust by Paris Hilton

100ml EDT with body lotion, shower gel and mirror =$19.80

Paris Hilton’s self titled fragrance was my first celebrity one ever, and I built up a good collection based on her 3 originals. While I’m not a big fan of her, she’s a smart business woman with all these perfumes (I think, 17 in total). I loved the bottle for this fragrance but I’m saving the extras for holidays.

Anyway, that’s it for now.

I don’t think perfume will be on my purchase agenda for a long time. I will try to post a Scentsation review soon as I haven’t done so in over a year.

Oh, and I have a Valentines Day post coming up that I have to post that might or mightn’t have fragrance involved…

Shiny New Things: December 2011- January 2012 Hauls

Not a gigantic personal haul done over Xmas, moreso, pressies for my team.

Although, MOH’s Xmas pressie to me was off the hook! Lemme show you…

Yep, an iPad2 plus a pink cover!! Hooked me up with Beyonce’s new scent, Pulse, a pink vinyl Domo, some cupcake lipglosses and a cupcake notepad. Super cute! My man knows me so well :D

I loves it! I have been on this thing nonstop since December 25. MOH already has one so now we’re twinsies :P

My company sent out this gigantic gourmet chocolate hamper which included everything Lindt, Baci, Guylian, plus a copy of the Michael Buble Christmas CD and David Campbell’s Let’s Go (back to the 80s) CD. This below is one set of choccies that were in the hamper.

(I forgot where the big pic is, atm.)

One of my team gifted me with some beautiful perfume bottles, cute socks and a large pink Domo :D

Because I worked all through Xmas and Boxing Day, I missed getting out to the sales. I had a couple days off over New Year so I made sure to get out to a shop or two to take advantage of the sales.

SATC 1 & 2 Blu Ray Set and perfume haul

  • SATC set- onsale for $14.99!!! Holy focaccia!
  • Cosmic Radiance EDP by Britney Spears (didn’t even know this existed) plus was given 3 gifts- the gold clutch, the gold wristlet and a nail polish bag by Sally Hansen
  • Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture- been wanting for ages and found this size at a fantastic price!

Colette/Target/Priceline/Kmart Haul

Needed a new handbag, spent a half hour walking up and down the store, trying to find the perfect one that would fit all my junk and not break.

  • Beige tote with gold hardware
  • Studs, Hoops, Rings in silver and/or black
  • Nail polish in lavendar and pink glitter (wearing at the moment, just gorgeous!)
  • Lee Stafford travel pack- has my fave hair product in it- a dehumidifier! Love to bits!!
  • Hello Kitty book cover- I know it’s childish but I want to cover my work diary in it :D
  • Eyeliner & Mineral Foundation top ups

The Hills & Equip Haul

  • Hills boxset- $56 on sale, for all 6 seasons. Now, I can possibly get rid of my American copies of Seasons 1 and 2. Miss this show, seriously.
  • Bracelet sets, rings and studs
  • (not pictured) Restocked underwear, basic tees and tanks for the new year as well. Some fantastic bargains, esp. at some of the places in my local shopping centre. The centre is being opened up on one side for expansion so the stores that are being demolished/walls broken down first, have started vacating and therefore, practically throwing out the stock.

Anyway, that’s it for another month or so, haul wise. Got bills to pay soon so I don’t expect to be hauling a great deal for a while :(

Causing A Scentsation: Nothing In The Bottle, Nothing In The Scent?

So I haven’t purchased a new scent since Boss Orange last August so this minimising thing seems to have been working for me. Either that or I have been channeling my shopping addiction elsewhere (such as Blu Rays and unnecessary jewellery purchases, hmmm?)

Before I get down to biz, I will say this in my defence- I have especially started using all of my perfumes again so that none of them go off by the time I use them next time. And most that have gone off are no longer in my collection except Vera Wang’s Princess.

(See where the purple jewels are? That crown like piece is the lid and that line of gold between the crown and the glass heart bottle is a wearable ring. Cool, huh?)

Causing A Scentsation: ‘Cos I’m BOSSY :p

I forgot to update y’all with then newest fragrance added to my ever-growing collection.

My last post was about the cute fragrances I picked up at the local outlet mall which were just gorgeous! Have worn twice each, they are both really pretty in their own way- Stella for when I feel I need a professional fragrance and need to feel that way. I think it’s the rose that makes me feel that way when I wear it. Aguilera for when I just want a soft fruity scent and nothing too pushy, hehe…

But onto the newest addition: BOSS Orange Woman by Hugo Boss Fragrances.

Causing A Scentsation: And The Habit Continues…

Holy moly, I am becoming a bit crazed with my perfume obsession.

Only Some...

Only Some...

The other day, I had to throw out a couple bottles because I rarely use them and you know what happens when you don’t use a scent for a while? Have you seen this post about my grandma’s perfume?

Causing A Scentsation: Armani Strikes My Purse Strings…

Oh dear, I was back at it for the first time in a couple months.

SHOPPING!!!!!

Yay! I have missed it so much and have been trying to keep a little shopping list of all the things I want but it’s been hard. I forget because I’m not writing anything down.

I knew I really wanted to replace a bottle of Viktor & Rolf’s “Flowerbomb”, which MOH got me a while back and I used constantly ’til it was dry inside but I got sidetracked when I hit the department store after work was done. I found myself gravitating towards the Agent Provocateur range even though I’d been there, done that. Then I just aimlessly walked the aisles ’til a saleslady called out to me, “yoohoo”…

I was shown to the Armani range, of which MOH and I both own a fragrance or two- me- Diamonds, he- Acqua Di Gio.

There is range I have never seen before from Armani called “ONDE”.

Causing A Scentsation: Badgley Mischka

When MOH and I had just settled into our newest apartment, I received mail from a department store concerning a new product  that I could go in to receive a free sample of. Needless to say, you know the product was a perfume. (C’mon, you know moi by now, mami always gotta have the latest, even if I do have a signature…)

Anyway, when I opened the envelope, the card inside was marked broadly “Badgley Mischka”, with the offer on the other side. Apparently, the fashion house (of the same name) were making the foray into fragrance, as many designers before them. I love to try new scents and was hoping to go and try this one straight away but I ran out of time and never ended up using the offer. And I never tried the perfume. Continue reading

Causing A Scentsation: My Signature Fragrance

It goes without saying, every woman should have a signature fragrance. A scent she loves and wants to be remembered by, that makes her feel special, on top of the world and in control of her life.

This is a scent you choose for other people to remember you by so whenever they smell that parfum, EDT or cologne, they think of you.

Scientific research in recent years has shown that scent triggers memory the strongest in people. Positive and negative memories can be conjured from a quick whiff of a scent and this affects almost everybody (with working nostrils, I guess.) Your brain forges a link between the smell and the memory so when you smell the scent again, your body will ellicit a mood or memory from the first time.

Causing A Scentsation: Bond No.9

While on holiday, MOH and I traipsed into DJs (in the city ‘cos the suburban stores are useless) and found a set of fragrances we hadn’t seen before. (And this was the same day I brought home Ed Hardy.)

The fragrances are a collection called Bond No.9 and this is what the collection is about, basically:

The Bond No. 9 collection — a collection of perfumes designed to showcase the very different neighbourhoods of the city that never sleeps, New York. The collection is comprised of 34 signature fragrances, packaged in art that defines the neighbourhood it represents.

Causing A Scentsation: Introducing Mr. Audigier

Okay, so I am not a fan of all this Ed Hardy crap that’s on the market. Ever since that huge Christian Audigier party a while back with Snoop Dogg and Michael Jackson in attendance, I have seen a plethora of people rockin’ these clothes like it’s the new Industrie or something. Every second chick or dude be wearing one of these loud ass shirts or one of the caps or rockin’ the sneaks…

edhardy6edhardy5edhardy4edhardy3edhardy2edhardy1

Not sayin’ I don’t like them but it’s too much for a trend. I understand the banners are cool and ooh, it looks like a motorcycle clothing brand but sounds like workmen apparel brand when you say “Ed Hardy”. Sounds chunky and solid.
