The City, Season 1 is almost over. I am a slowpoke, yes.

Olivia, Whitney & Erin

So I am a fair bit behind with all this Hills spin-off and thangs but I finally caught myself up to Episode 8 and I’ll tell you this. I really like Whitney because she seems so nice and wishes to keep the peace all the time. Which hasn’t changed that much from when she was in L.A. on The Hills. So many people thought Whitney was banal and boring due to her being so different from the other, by keeping her drama out of the show.

But Whitney had something else and that was her drive to work in the industry of her choosing. Heidi gave up an education to be a glorified party planner (probably a fake job from Bolthouse productions through MTV connections), Lauren got MTV to phase her out of Teen Vogue almost as soon as Whitney left for the People’s Republic and sporadically showed up to a class at FIDM. Don’t know how she did it but apart from Whitney, Audrina managed to look interested enough to no only gain a job with Sony but then moved onto Epic, another branch of the company.

Whitney moved up from People’s Republic to DVF, Dianne Von Furstenberg for those not in the know. From west-coastal to bi-coastal to east-coastal. Nice job, Whit!

 The cast of The City are indeed an eclectic bunch. You got the socialite uptowners- well, just the two of them- Olivia and her drop kick cousin, Nevan or Neville or Dickwad. And then you have the downtowners- the laidback crew that most of us can relate to us- Erin and her stream of dudes/ex-dudes, Jay and Adam, Allie & Sammy. 

And then there’s Whitney who is trying to figure out where she fits. Well, I can say from my POV, it’s definitely with the downtowners. These people are real compared to the uptowners and have feelings and live in reality. The socialites don’t know anything but good manners and how to boss others around to make themselves feel better.

Which is where my point is: 

MTV need to get rid of Olivia Palermo from the cast because this is one uptight class-less snob who needs to be hauled off into a life of poverty for all the many decades she has set back young people for her stupid, wannabe educated remarks. MTV tries to showcase youth in a good way, most times, without all the excesses of adult life- racism, prejudice, caste systems, etc. This one girl says one sentence and you feel like she just spewed that aristocracy bull ish that kept slavery in, started wars and killed many innocent people throughout the centuries. 

Why on earth does she need to keep throwing Whitney’s age in her face? How would she like it if someone kept throwing up her age on international television? That’s not polite at all, no matter what society ruling you come from. Olivia constantly throws shit in Whitney’s face when she wants to talk about non work stuff.

She is no Lauren Conrad, that’s for sure. At least with Lauren, although she came from money, she didn’t act pretentious and was happy to talk dramas out at work with Whitney. Olivia’s happy to control the conversations she has with Whitney by cutting her off when something personal comes up but she couldn’t control her own cousin from bagging Jay and his band right in front of Whitney and pretty much everyone, then expected a thankyou.

No thanks, Olivia. Go and be Queen Bitch of Controlling Contradiction on your own clock, not on Whitney’s or MTV’s.  

Sidenote: Maybe she’s just pissed because she’s a midget compared to the other girls and needs to feel important over others to feel big.
